MANGA KICHADI / MANGO KICHADI KERALA STYLE

 
Manga Kichadi / Mango Kichadi Kerala Style
   

                                                                           
 
 
Mango Kichadi is a Kerala Tradational recipe and it is Popular in  all over Kerala. It is essential dish at Onam and Kerala Sadya ( Grand feast )  
We can prepare Kichadi using different vegitables, Mango Kichadi is one of the dishes included in the Sadya (Feast ). Usually Kichadi is prepared using curd. But when using raw mango, Curd is not used. Since mango is already sour. Enjoy Mango Kichadi.......................With regards.

INGREDIENTS:

* Manga/Mango............................................2 nos
* Pachamulaku/Green chillies.......................6 nos
* Dry red chillies cut into 2 pieces................4 n0s
* Nalikeram/Coconut ( Grated and grinded )......1 no
* Kaduku/Mustard seeds ( Grinded ).............1 tsp
* Jeerakam/Cumin seeds ( Grinded )..............1/4 tsp
* Kduku/Mustard seeds ( For frying ).............1/2 tsp 
* Cheriya ulli/Shallots ( Finely chopped )............5 n
* Coconut oil or any refined oil.
Curry leaves....................................................2 sprigs.


DIRECTIONS:

1. Chop raw/green mango into small pieces.
2. Grind grated coconut, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1/4 tsp cumin seeds, 6 green chillies and set aside.
3. Heat 4 tbsp coconut oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds when it crackle, Add curry leaves, dry red chilli pieces saute it for a few seconds and add Chopped shallot pieces, stir it for 1 minute and add chopped mangoes saute it for 4 to 5 minutes and add 1/2 cup water and when it boil Add grinded coconut, 1 tsp mustard seeds paste, 1/4 tsp cumin seeds paste Stir it well and finish the cooking after 2 minutes.Now Manga / Mango Kichadi is ready.


TIPS:

* 1/4 tsp ginger paste can add it. 
* You can garnish with fried mustard seeds, cutted dry chillies and curry leaves just before finishing the cooking.
* In some areas people will grind the mangoes.
